the northern mockingbird
who lives in the tree across the street
who sings life songs into the night
got shot by one of the crazy neighbors
this bird would sing every note like a sunrise
like a thunderstorm
like a million raindrops on a pond
like a rainbow
we don’t know who pulled the trigger
but one night
there was no more beauty sounds
coming from the street
the reservoir
looks like a mirror
so still
Jupiter is in reverse
children eating cotton candy
sugared up and acting out
wild with desire
no boundaries keeping them in
no boundaries to create resistance
to hold them up
so they understand
the meaning of limitations
there’s no balance here
perhaps people
can’t tell the difference
between good and evil anymore
between soft and hard
between danger and safety

i suppose that symbolizes
all the effort one must make
to cut through maya
to see things in perspective
to hold oneself in high esteem
to tame the desire tiger
to be armed
conscious
alert
aware of lifes inequities
to bear gifts gracefully

to keep the frozen
words from getting too close
you were lamenting
about life
about grief
about grieving

not getting
what
you deserve
your wife was there
floating and singing
on the bandstand
in a tight kaleidoscopic dress
her butt was huge
like planet earth
it took up the whole room
in red, blue, orange and yellow
the band played ferociously
with intricate harmonies
horn parts that stayed in the air
cascading and ringing through the night
one day, i’ll be dead and gone
some human might read this
and wonder what it was like
to live thru these days
of lies and resolute right wingers
chipping away
every personal freedom
we have
the oil crisis
the terrorists
the gas prices that
keep going up
i had a pedicure today
all the women who work there
are chinese
they don’t speak english
it was very strange
all these caucasion women
sitting in chairs
while chinese women were bending over
doing manicures and pedicures
bending over, picking up feet
scrubbing, trimming,
shaving skin
pick a color

i brought
my color
red, blood red
shiny dark pomegranate
amaryllis red
christmas red
they bend and scrape off
dead skin …. while we
sit there, feet up
grateful for the moment
we endure the snipping
the filing
the thick polish
going on to slow
taking too long to dry
sitting on the massage chair
waiting for the metal fingers
to separate flesh from bone
muscle from pain
no relationship needed
just metal fingers

just for clarity, i'll going to start posting poems up as often as i can..... i'm sure this will go in spurts, because thats the way i seem to get things donw. i hope you can visit often and make a comment if you "like" the poem! and there will be a (P) next to it to indicate it's a poem and not a rant... altho, i'd like to think many of my poems are rrrrants....
How I Found Out Helichrysm Oil Is Totally Amazing The 2nd Time
I putter around the house fixing things and breaking things. I use hammers, saws, drills and other tools to do things like fixing broken chairs, hanging curtains etc.
One night, after a flood in the basement, I was trying to put a drawer back in a cabinet of a chest, that because of the water, had swollen. It was giving me particular trouble and I was getting short tempered so I decided to try and chisel out a piece of the swollen wood so it would fit back in the drawer. Alas, that was not such a brilliant idea…
While I was chiseling…. the wood gave way, the screwdriver slipped and a piece of wood about 6/8” long and 1/8” wide went deep into the back of my fingernail of my 3rd finger. Well, it hurt like the dickens, started swelling, bleeding and turning colors. I found a pair of tweezers and pulled, what I thought was the whole thing, out. I couldn’t really tell because it was still bleeding, it really hurt and was very swollen.
I found my Helichrysm Oils and applied it, the bleeding stopped, but it still hurt quite a bit. By this time I had decided to take a break from the drawer activities and let the finger rest. It was late so I went to bed shortly thereafter.
When I woke up, the finger was red, throbbing, more swollen, started getting yellow with infection and kind of purple. I put more oil on it, it helped a little with the throbbing but not much else. I waited…
The next day it was worse and throbbing more so I decided to get serious and see if I could find out what the problem was. Without sounding too gory, I cut the skin and saw a large piece of wood was still in my finger. My friend lent me her chemistry tweezers, I poked around and finally got the rest of the wood out.
By this time the finger was really throbbing, really swollen but as soon as I got the small piece out, it felt better. I applied the 4 or 5 drops of helichrysm every 15minutes for a couple of hours, washed everything really well and bandaged it. The throbbing stopped, the bleeding stopped and it took about 3 days of putting the oil on it as often as I could until the swelling went down and about 2 weeks to get back to normal.
I don’t recommend doing this on your own without a doctors care, but I am one of those 50 million people who don’t want to go to the doctor, and a trip to the emergency room was out of the question. I am really glad I keep 2 bottles of Helichrysm Oil in my possession for situations like this, and I still do for these kinds of reasons.
The Third Time I Realized How Amazing Helichrysm Oil Is
Having had my 1st and 2nd very successful encounters with the healing ability of Young Living helichrysm oil, I come to my 3rd and most recent experience. This past December 2010, during the Christmas rush of holiday festivities, I somehow irritated the eyelid of my left eye. All of a sudden, I felt a swelling and saw a big red bump the size of a pea on my eyelid. As a child I had experienced them, it was a “stye” or so I thought. I bathed it in saline solution, used hot compresses, tea bags and other natural remedies. I used homeopathic remedies for swellings and cists. It seemed to be getting worse.
My eye was closed shut in the morning, it looked ghastly and I had to wear sunglasses to gigs, I felt terrible. I was out of helichrysm oil. I went to the doctor, one of those emergency care shops. Paid my $90.00 for a prescription of anti biotic cream and $90.00 for the doctor visit. I followed the directions, kept up with the compresses….. I called Young Living and placed an order for 2 bottles of helichrysm oil.
It was not responding well, even with the antibiotic cream. I remembered Young Living has an oil called Trauma Life and I knew I had it, so I started applying that. Trauma Life has helichrysm in it among other oils. I applied it as often as I could throughout the day and noticed it getting better. This had been going on about 3 weeks, it was hovering around the same place with varying degrees of swelling. At times, as big as a large green pea (but of course it was red!) and other times a little smaller. I started panicking, called an eye specialist and was told what I had was a
Chalazion and I might need to have it surgically removed. That would cost $500.00.
This was getting bleak…. I decided to put Young Living Lemongrass on it. Lemongrass is known for it’s antibacterial/antifungal properties. Yikes, did that sting! Still, it did reduce the swelling. (I don’t recommend putting Lemongrass on your eyelid, I’m just relating what I did)
By this time I was really panicking… I thought I was going to have to do the surgery. Finally the helichrysm arrived. I started applying it as often as I could during the day, directly on the eyelid. It didn’t sting and there was no discomfort. In 2 days the swelling started to go down, in 4 days the bump was ½ its previous size, in 6 days it was almost gone.
There is still a very tiny bump there and a slight redness, but it is not noticeable. The helichrysm is amazing!
How I Found Out Helichrysm Oil Is Totally Amazing The 1st Time
My roommate had moved and I was cleaning up some of the things she had left and I had washed a lot of dishes and glassware in the dishwasher. I was unloading the dishwasher and putting things away when I reached in to get a vase and missed the vase I had intended to get and instead, inadvertedly reached underneath the bottom of another vase. This vase was a long clear glass vase with a very sharp top rim. I felt a burning stinging sensation and pulled my hand out quickly. I then noticed the middle finger of my right hand was bleeding and I had a deep cut to the bone, with a flap of skin about ¼ inch by ¼ inch not attached! This is that part of the top of the hand where you don’t have a lot of skin!
I thought, “oh no…. I’m in trouble now” and proceeded to run cold water on it, apply pressure to try and stop the bleeding and get some ice. I did this for about 15 minutes and it wouldn’t stop bleeding. I sing and play piano and I had a gig that night…. This was not good… I remembered George Koury and Rudy Hunter talking about how helichrysm oil could stop bleeding so I went to my oil bag, found the helichrysm and applied it.
Within about 3 to 4 minutes the bleeding started pooling, in about another 5 minutes it stopped altogether. Since it was a very deep cut, I thought I might need stitches, but since it stopped bleeding I decided to wait and see. I started alternating Young Living lavender oil and helichrysm oil and it started to stabilize. I had a friend wrap it very tightly and secure it on the edges, and kept applying the oils alternately to the bandage. The blood started to turn a dark brown almost black color, but it felt OK, wasn’t throbbing and I had a gig to go to….
I went to the gig, it was only one hour long. Almost as soon as I started playing it started bleeding again so I applied the same two oils in between tunes and made it thru the hour.
Long story short, I kept applying the oils for about 4 days, the wound turned black around the edges, never got infected, healed beautifully and I have a very small scar where it used to be. No stiches, no emergency room, no doctor visits!
Totally Amazing!
I think doctors are great, medicines are great and I’m all for getting good medical attention. But it certainly does help to have these oils to avoid emergency room visits! I’m not advocating making unintelligent choices, just informed ones…..

But, if there is anything really big going on, it will be there first. Still doing the singing, writing, dealing with real estate, massage and aromatherapy, photographing, earth and animal activistism, astrology and tarot etc….. Plus lately I got involved with DJ work, doing children’s entertainment and face & body painting which has really taken off. I have an agent who is keeping me very busy with all this. Very different from the jazz and creative stuff, but it pay a lot more bills! And bills there are aplenty…
The very newest thing is that New Jersey, Delaware, Connecticut and Pennsylvania have de-regulated their utility companies, which means that more upstarts are getting into the energy business, and I am involved with very green upstart company called VIRIDIAN. If you live in any of these states, and soon in New York and Illinois, when you sign up with them, you save 10 to 15% on your electric bill because they contract with WIND ENERGY PROVIDERS FOR ELECTRICITY! WHOOPEE! It’s really amazing when you think of it, the first Earth Day was in 1970 and here it is 40 years later, and John Q Public finally has a choice of energy providers. This is what the United States needs to do in a very big way to cut down on all the problems with getting energy from you know who. Here’s the new website for this:
