Local 269  is a funky local east village bar that is a hotbed of alternative jazz on Monday evenings. Fay Victor is director of the series called the Evolving Voice and she is there on Mondays listening, supporting and digging the music. Always interesting, there are 3 different bands performing each Monday evening. Usually voice/poets 1st set, and then 2 different bands following with the 2nd and 3rd set. I love to sing at Jules Bistro because it is warm, friendly, killer food and wine, the staff are wonderful and knowledgeable, the neighborhood is intrigueing, the bar is comfy and clean, the restrooms are clean, quaint, with french sensibilities and the place is just a gem......... The only problem is........... it's so chic, it's a good idea to make a reservation otherwise, at dinnertime, you may be left waiting for table.......... And.............. if you are driving, the East Village is hell to find a place to park so come early and find a spot leisurely............. Some places are 7pm end of meter, some are 10pm end of meter......... Make sure you check! NYC makes a lotta do re mi on Saturday nights!
